May is one of my favorite months in the mountains. There is often still snow at higher elevations but the temperatures during the day can get into the mid 70s. There is a nice breeze most afternoons and even a chance of a stray thunder shower or two that blows through quickly leaving just a quick sprinkling of water on the ground. These images were captured at a small, isolated lake in the Tahoe National Forest where we camped for a couple of days. One morning the mist was rising beautifully off of the dead calm water and we also saw some beautiful sunsets through the pines. The snow was still gorgeous white at the very tops of the mountains. We were lucky enough to get warm enough weather to swim during the days even though the temperatures dropped below 40 degrees at night. We will be returning to this little slice of heaven!
