Baby Colton Enzo was born on September 16, 2016 weighing 8 lbs 13 oz and measuring 21 inches long. Our second little boy finally arrived after 41 weeks of pregnancy on his older brother’s birthday! What are the odds of having both boys share a birth date?! Colton was also born within the same hour as Maddox. They will always grow up getting to celebrate together and we just figured that September 16th must be an extra lucky and blessed day for our family.
I went into labor on August 31, at 39 weeks pregnant, during the night with strong contractions for about 4 hours. I waited until they were pretty regular and was going to start getting ready to go to the hospital when the contractions simply stopped! Unfortunately, the same pattern of prodromal labor continued through my due date (September 8) and on right until he was born. These contractions were stronger and more regular than Braxton Hicks but after several hours most nights they would just fizzle out and labor would stall. My longest bout of contractions was 6 hours long! The cramps and pain was too strong to sleep through, so I was awake most of the night for a lot of nights in a row.
I was pretty exhausted by the time I went in for a non-stress test at 41 weeks to make sure baby was still OK in there & they found that his heart rate was jumping around a bit with each contraction & the doctor came in & told me that it was time to get the baby out. Off I went to labor & delivery for induction. After 17 hours of labor, I only had to push for maybe 20 minutes before baby Colton arrived. My first labor was also induced at 41+ weeks and my labor that time was 29 hours with quite a long bout of pushing, so this time was actually easier. We are so happy to have our baby boy home and healthy!
I am hoping to do a series of newborn photos of Colton soon to share. I have also started booking some client photo appointments in Nov/Dec, but because of the overwhelming response my availability is filling up very quickly. Anyone interested in holiday sessions or family photos while family is in town please contact me ASAP to book.
Oh, how precious!! Congratulations, mama! Wow, how interesting that they share the same birth day and hour – what are the odds?!
